Elliott Wins His Second Late Model race in the GAS series at Cordele

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. (July 20, 2009) – Chase Elliott and the No. 9 Aaron’s Lucky Dog Dream Machine travelled to Cordele, GA over the weekend to make their sixth start in the GAS – Georgia Asphalt Series. David Ragan competed along with GAS series regular heavy hitters such as T.J. Reaid and Casey Roderick to make up some of the best racing fans have seen at Cordele.  Elliott’s practice times were barely among the top five but when he took the track for his qualifying lap he picked up over 4/10th to post a time of 16.114 and took his very first pole in a Late Model car.  The Aaron’s Lucky Dog Dream machine would start the event in sixth after the invert.  With contenders such as Casey Roderick and T.J. Reaid, 1st and 2nd in the GAS series points, in front of him, Elliott had his work cut out for him.

“It was an awesome weekend at Cordele.  There were a lot of fans in the stands because David Ragan and Dad, Bill Elliott, did an autograph session before the race so that made it even more fun!  We had an awesome car and the team was pumped up from having run so well at Orange County and never getting to race because of the rain so we were ready to go.  The car’s set up was perfect and I drove the Aaron’s Lucky Dog dream machine from sixth to second and then was contending for first before long.  We swapped the lead several times before the end of the night and we were lucky enough to lead the last lap for the win.”
